Step 2: Send Sample Images

Once you've made contact, you’ll be asked to send us sample images of your parquet flooring blocks. These images help us determine the best method for cleaning and restoration.

  • Ensure the images fairly represent the overall condition of your parquet.
  • Include examples of blocks in poor condition as well, if applicable.

đź“© Email your images to: removemybitumen@gmail.com

We specialise in not only cleaning, but also sales of parquet flooring, and in most cases, clear images are all we need to provide an accurate assessment.

Step 3: Receive a Quotation

After reviewing your images, we will provide you with a no-obligation quotation tailored to the work required.

Step 4: Book Your Delivery

If you’re happy with the quotation and would like to proceed, you will need to arrange for the collection and delivery of your parquet blocks.

We will include full delivery and courier instructions in the quotation and also make them available here for your reference.

Pallet Guidelines

  • You will need a standard pallet for shipping your parquet blocks.
  • A standard pallet can typically hold up to 55–60 square metres of parquet.
  • You may find a pallet:
    • From local businesses or residential skips
    • By searching local pallet suppliers or buying on eBay
  • Most empty pallets can fit in the back of a standard vehicle for transport.

Stacking Parquet Flooring on a Pallet

Proper preparation of your pallet ensures safe and efficient transport. Please follow the steps below to make sure your parquet blocks are securely packed and ready for collection.

1. Pallet Placement

  • Place your pallet on a flat, even surface where it can be easily accessed with a pallet truck.
  • Avoid placing pallets on uneven ground such as stone, shale, grass, or mud.
  • Ideal surfaces include concrete, block paving, or paving flags.

If you don’t have a suitable surface at home, we recommend booking a timed collection with your chosen courier. This allows you to place the pallet on the street, pavement, or roadside shortly before collection, ensuring it’s ready and accessible.

🔄 Tip: Give yourself enough time to stack and wrap the pallet before the transport arrives.

2. Packing Your Parquet Blocks

  • Boxed Method (Preferred):
Pack your parquet blocks into small to medium-sized boxes.
Supermarkets and local shops often have spare boxes available — crisp-sized boxes work perfectly.
    • Ensure each box is liftable when full (ideally no more than 20 kg).
    • A 20 kg box typically holds around 1.5 m², or approximately 80 to 100 blocks, depending on the wood species.
  • Loose Stacking (Alternative):
If boxes aren’t available, you can stack the blocks loose directly onto the pallet.
Please stack them in clearly defined layers, ideally 1 square metre per layer, to ensure stability during transport.

3. Wrapping Your Pallet

Once packed, use shrink wrap or pallet wrap to secure the blocks or boxes to the pallet.
This prevents movement during transit and protects the flooring from dirt or moisture.

Wrapping & Securing Your Parquet Pallet

Once your parquet flooring has been loaded onto the pallet—either boxed or stacked—it’s essential to secure it properly for transport. Proper wrapping ensures your flooring arrives safely, intact, and protected throughout the journey.

Materials Needed

  • Shrink wrap or heavy-duty cling film
A strong, good-quality cling film may be suitable for light-duty wrapping, but we recommend using pallet shrink wrap, which can be easily sourced from:
    • eBay
    • Local DIY stores
    • Packaging suppliers

How to Wrap Your Pallet

  1. Start at the Base
Secure the wrap to one of the pallet's corners—ideally by threading it through the pallet slats or tying it off for stability.
  2. Wrap Around the Pallet
Begin wrapping around the base several times to anchor the lower boxes securely.
  3. Work Your Way Up
Continue wrapping upward and around, overlapping each layer of wrap as you go. Cover all sides of the pallet thoroughly.
  4. Secure the Top
Once you reach the top, ensure the uppermost boxes are fully covered and stabilised. You may also cross-wrap the top for added security.
  5. Reinforce
Go over the entire pallet multiple times—especially around any loose areas or corners. Your pallet may be loaded and unloaded several times during transit, so strong and consistent wrapping is critical.

Pallet Collection, Courier Handling & Delivery Information

How the Pallet Is Collected from Your Property

To ensure a smooth collection process, the pallet must be positioned in an accessible location where it can be moved safely by the courier using a manual pallet truck (trolley).

âś… Suitable Surfaces:

  • Concrete
  • Tarmac
  • Flagstone
  • Block paving

These solid surfaces allow the courier’s pallet truck to move the loaded pallet from your property to the vehicle’s tail lift.

🛠️ You may need to assist the driver by gently pushing the pallet while the courier pulls the trolley. This is normal and helps prevent delays.

❌ Unsuitable Surfaces:

  • Grass
  • Soil
  • Loose gravel or chippings
  • Shale or uneven ground

Important: A pallet truck cannot operate on soft, uneven, or unstable surfaces. If you do not have a suitable area, please consider booking a timed collection and placing the pallet on a pavement or roadside shortly before pickup. This reduces the time your flooring is left unattended in a public space.

If you're forced to leave your pallet outside overnight, cover it with a waterproof sheet or tarpaulin to protect against rain or snow. Under normal weather conditions, the blocks will be fine overnight.

Alternative Courier Options: “Man & Van” Services

If using a local courier or “man & van” service (many are available on eBay or courier sites), you may pack your parquet flooring into strong refuse sacks in 1m² bundles. These can be lifted directly into the van, eliminating the need for palletisation.

Local Collections (Within 2 Hours of Our Premises)

If you're based within approximately 2 hours of our location, we may be able to personally collect the parquet blocks.
This service will still incur a transport cost, but it does not require a pallet.

Please pack the blocks in strong refuse sacks that can be easily carried to our vehicle. Once your flooring is restored, we’ll arrange for re-delivery to your location.

Turnaround Times & Return Process

1. Arrival at Our Workshop

Once your pallet or parcels are collected by courier, they typically arrive at our premises within 2–4 working days.

2. Work Commencement

Upon arrival, we will begin work on your parquet blocks as per your quotation.
The estimated lead time will be stated in your original quote. Please note this may vary if we encounter any unforeseen issues with your flooring.

3. Return Delivery

Once the restoration work is complete:

  • We will contact you to confirm dispatch.
  • Return delivery typically takes 2–4 working days.

The return courier cost will be outlined in your original quotation and included in the final invoice. Alternatively, you may arrange your own courier for collection.

đźšš The return process is similar to the collection.
The driver will deliver the pallet as close to your property as possible.
You will be responsible for unloading the pallet and disposing of it afterward.

Customer-Arranged Collection & Delivery (Recommended)

We strongly recommend that you book your own collection and return delivery wherever possible.
By arranging transport yourself, you remain in full control of the following:

  • Collection and delivery dates and times
  • Choice of courier or transport service
  • Any specific handling instructions or requirements

This flexibility ensures your pallet is collected and returned on your schedule, reducing the chances of delays or missed deliveries.

If you choose this option, we will provide you with our full workshop address and any relevant details required for the booking.

For any further guidance or clarification, please feel free to contact us directly—we're always happy to help.
