Cleaning of circa 300m2 Pitch Pine Parquet - The Old Library - Liverpool

www.tol.org.uk The Old Library – A Proud History, A New Beginning REF – The Old Library, Liverpool We are happy to provide a reference for Parquet Bitumen Removal and their team following a very successful project we completed 2 years ago in Liverpool. We were tasked with unenviable job of reinstating a large parquet floor in the Grade 2* Listed former Andrew Carnegie Library, which had been sat derelict for more than 25 years, with the parquet under water for much of that time. This company assisted initially preparing a sample of circa 10m2 of flooring – which we were able to have approved by the Client and the numerous stakeholders such as L.C.C and the NLHF. Once approved, the balance of materials was delivered to this companies premises where it was carefully cleaned and prepared, before being dried out ahead of reinstatement. The refurbished blocks were then palletised and redelivered to site looking absolutely fantastic. The reinstallation process was problem free, with the fitters (who were initially dubious of re-fitting the floor) commenting on the surprisingly good condition of the blocks. We would have no hesitation employing the services of this company on future projects, nor recommending this company and their team to potential Clients.

Penderyn Llandudno Transformation Bitumen Removal

Transforming an old school in to a distillery! One of the most striking and cherished features of the Penderyn Llandudno Lloyd St Distillery is its beautifully restored original woodblock parquet flooring. Dating back to the building’s origins in 1881 — when it served as the Old Board School — the parquet flooring has been meticulously preserved as part of a wider heritage restoration project. During the transformation of the former school into a modern distillery and visitor centre, the parquet blocks were carefully lifted from the floors and shipped to Parquet Bitumen Removal in Cheshire, a specialist company, where the old bitumen adhesive was professionally removed. Once cleaned and restored, the blocks were returned to Llandudno and expertly refitted, preserving their original layout and character. This traditional parquet woodblock flooring now spans several key areas of the distillery, including the Exhibition Room, Tasting Bar, and Masterclass spaces It's warm tones and timeless herringbone pattern provide not only visual elegance but also a tangible link to the building’s Victorian past. The restoration team took great care to maintain architectural authenticity throughout the space. Alongside the parquet floors, original features such as wall tiles, steel banisters, and strong timber roof beams strong were conserved, blending heritage charm with the distillery’s modern identity. Today, the parquet flooring plays a central role in shaping the atmosphere of Penderyn Llandudno. It sets the tone for a warm, character-rich visitor experience where craftsmanship, tradition, and innovation come together — much like the whisky produced on site.
